Unethical and Immoral: The Dynamic Silver Bullets All-Star Cheerleading Organization

Unethical and Immoral: the Dynamic silver Bullets

This is a youth organization that specializes in the sport of all- star cheerleading. The owners Steve and Michelle Turrie have made it standard practice to rip it’s members off. They overcharge for competition fees and overcharged every family that went to Myrtle Beach with them last season by hundreds of dollars per hotel room. They began holding “gym Fundraisers” where athletes were each required to sell a certain number of the required item or the value of the unsold tickets to the fundraisers were added onto the cheerleaders monthly statements, forcing the family to “donate” additional money to the program. These fundraisers began being held because the Turrie’s were not collecting gym rent from all of the families, and therefore were unable to pay their gym rent. These fundraisers were a way of forcing families to pay for other people’s children to participate in the program. Since these families were not paying, Steve felt the money must come from somewhere; however, forcing others to be responsible for the bills of these people was not the right decision. In addition to this, Michelle, made it a standard practice to demean and belittle the athletes on her team. Not all of them. There were a few girls who received special treatment as a reward for kissing up to her and her family. Michelle would also make it standard practice to discuss the business and private information she was privy to with other gym members. She was in the parent room gossiping and having a child (yes a child 14 and 15 year olds are not adults) in the gym doing her job. She would also make nasty little comments on a regular basis about the lack of improvement from the athletes. I wonder if that had anything to do with the lack of coaching. The way this organization is run is an embarrassment to all the other youth organizations out there and these people should be ashamed of themselves taking advantage of families in this time of economic hardship. I for one do not blame any single parent who has removed their child from this program this season, and it is my guess that more than half of the team chose not to return. I’m sure it is all due to the immoral and unethical practices they continually displayed!
